EXERCISE YOURSELF IN GODLINESS

1 Timothy 4:7 KJV But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
Many of the old age related diseases are as a result of inactive lifestyle as people age – as folks grow older, they become less active – they retire to a life of docility.
Nature does not encourage an inactive lifestyle. For instance, if you stop using your hands, with time you may lose it. We become stronger through exercise and constant usage of our body parts.
In the same way, you can become stronger in Christ when you use the instruments and tools that you have been given.
In Christ, there are those who are stronger in certain areas than others. There are those who are stronger in prayer than others. There are those who are stronger in fasting than others. There are those who are stronger in the use of prophetic gifts than others.
This is not necessarily because God decided to make one stronger than the other. It is simply because they chose to exercise themselves more in those areas of life in Christ.
You can be stronger in the things of God. All you need to do is to exercise yourself daily in these Kingdom disciplines.
Inactive believers are the weak ones. They hardly exercise themselves in prayer and word study and meditation. You will have to enroll in the gym of the Holy Ghost to become a strong Christian.
One who goes to the gym once a while cannot be stronger than the one who visits everyday – the difference is clear as day and night.
For this reason, exercise yourself consistently in kingdom disciplines like prayer, fasting, attending church, evangelism etc. As you do it on a consistent basis, you will become strong and the result will be continuous victory.
