YOU MEAN MORE TO JESUS THAN HIS THRONE

2 Samuel 3:13 And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.

As at this time Saul was dead and David was reigning over Judah but not all of Israel. Abner who was the head of the army of Saul told David that he would like to bring all Israel to David for him to rule over them.

But David told Abner that, I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face. This is awesome!

The throne meant nothing to David in comparison to Michal. Now, why Michal? David already had Abigail, a good woman, and Ahinoam of Jezreel. Why Michal? The answer is, Michal was the only woman David risked his life for. The bride price of Michal was 100 foreskins of the Philistines.

You see the bride price that this wicked father-in-law was asking for. Saul’s intention was to kill David by the hand of the Philistines. But David won the battle and brought even 200 foreskins, more than what Saul asked for. This was an overpayment. This was the reason why David so valued Michal more than any woman. And he let Abner know that, if you don’t bring the woman that I paid for with my life, keep the throne of Israel to yourself.

David is a picture of Jesus who laid down His life for you His beloved. Christ paid with His very life for your ransom and the price of redemption that He paid was an overpayment, beyond measure. Today, you mean more to Jesus than His throne. Hallelujah! He will move heaven and earth to reach you.

Unfortunately, just like a lot of folks in the church, Michal didn’t see how much David loved her thus she despised David when he danced before the Lord. You mean a lot to Jesus; you are His prized possession. Get to know the love of God which passes knowledge and be fully grounded in His unshakeable love for victorious living.
