Galatians 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
For some section in the body of Christ, grace is one of the doctrines in the Bible. To them, you have subjects like faith, hope, prosperity, the second coming of Christ etc. and then, grace is one of those subjects. No sir! Grace is the mother of all doctrines. If you don’t know that, I doubt your interpretation of the entire scriptures.
Every doctrine that we teach must have the undertone of grace. Grace is that golden thread that must run through every teaching and doctrine. If what we teach doesn’t have the undertone of grace, it is not truth.
Our opening scripture is part of a portion of scripture which speaks of two women, Hagar and Sarah, who represent two mountains. Hagar represent mount Sinai, while Sarah represent Jerusalem which is the mother of us all. Hagar speaks of the law while Sarah speaks of grace. Thus grace is the mother of all doctrines. Let this truth sink deeply into you. It will help you in Bible interpretation.
Because most people in the church think that grace is one of the doctrines of the Bible, they don’t place great emphasis on it. John 1:17 says, For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. So, you see, truth is on the side of grace. And grace is Jesus Christ.
Scripture admonishes us that our words (teachings) should minister grace to our hearers. Ephesians 4:29 says, Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. What is your hearers hearing? Is it ministering grace? No matter what subject you preach, it must minister grace.
When king Abimilech took Sarah, who is a picture of grace from her rightful place and mixed her with the other women in the palace, God plagued his house with unfruitfulness. But the moment Sarah (grace) was restored to her rightful place, there was fruitfulness and barrenness was broken. Let us put grace in her exalted position in the church so that fruitfulness will flow. Grace is the mother of us all.
