Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Bishop Dag Heward Mills told a story of how a friend of his became born again and gloriously saved. This friend was real deep into sin and worldly lifestyle. He said one time he went to the club with a friend of his.

While returning after partying, driving home, there was silence in the car. Thus he decided to slot in a tape he found in his friend’s car. To his earnest surprise, it was a preaching tape. Then he asked his friend, what is going on here? Have you joined this born again folks? His friend replied, I’m trying to save myself.

Then this friend of Bishop Dag said to himself, while in this car, if we have an accident and both of us die, this guy will go to heaven and I will go to hell. All this while he thought both of them were having fun in the world. Little did he know that his friend was already getting to know Jesus. This was what led him to his salvation: save yourself.

Salvation is a personal matter. If you are not saved and you are in delusion, thinking that you are in the same condition with your friends, you could be greatly mistaken. They may be saving themselves. Pay attention to your walk with God. Not everyone is living anyhow. What matters most is the quality of your walk with God. How close and intimate is it?

Ministry is a personal matter. Don’t let anyone call you into ministry. I know churches where they call people into ministry. If people call you into ministry and you have not ascertain your calling by the help of the Spirit, you could be in danger of running in vain. You must hear God for yourself to confirm your calling.
