YOU DON'T HAVE TO SIN
YOU DON'T HAVE TO SIN

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
You can live above sin. This is a profound truth in scripture that you have to get to know very well. Jesus on the cross not only washed away your sins, but condemned sin in His body – He destroyed the body of sin and redeemed you from the bondage of sin.
As far as God is concerned sin is no longer your master. You can break any bad habit with the grace of God. That anger is not supposed to get a better of you; that lustful desires that make you do crazy things can be broken; that addiction to drugs and pornography can be broken; that desire for masturbation and homosexuality can be broken.
Sin has lost its power ever since the cross. You have to allow this light of the glorious gospel to enter into you. Jesus did not die to make you a slave of sin. Jesus died to give you power over sin; and when you receive the abundance of grace you will reign over every bad lifestyle.
Our theme scripture says, “if any man sin”; notice it did not say, “when any man sin”. “If” implies it is conditional – it does not really have to be. In fact, Apostle John told us that he is writing these things to us so that we sin not. And he went on to say, if any sin we have an advocate.
So, in your bid of living right for Jesus, should in case you slip or fail, God is saying to you, you have an advocate, Jesus Christ the righteous one who speaks for you. Thus, the moment you sin, your advocate goes into action for you. Jesus is on your side.
The life that we have been given in Christ is a superior one. It is a life above defeat, sin, satan, disease and hell. God expects you to be reigning in life and not to be struggling with all kinds of bad habits; God does not want you to be under the whiplash of satan. He made you superior to all the forces of darkness and sin. And the key to sin not is not in trying to stop sinning but giving heed to God’s word – it is us allowing the word of God to dominate our mind and determining to stay on God’s word.
