Ruth 1:20-21
[20]And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
[21]I went out full, and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
This scripture certainly shows the weakness of the old Testament. Under the old Covenant there was not much revelation of the activities of demons. Thus God was made responsible for nearly everything that happened, whether good or bad.
Naomi and the husband left the house of bread (Bethlehem) to Moab. That was their decision. Certainly, whatever consequences that comes out of your decisions is solely your responsibility.
There are consequences to our actions as well as judgment from God as a result of a violation of God's law.
Naomi's decision to go to the land was not a violation of God's written law. Thus the aftermath cannot be said to be judgment from God.
More so, Naomi wasn't a prophet. Hence we can't take her word as "thus saith the LORD". May the Lord give you understanding.
