FAVOUR AT THE EXPENSE OF CHRIST

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Grace is the richest word in scripture. And over the years many have attempted to define what grace is. Grace is simply God’s favour at the expense of Christ. Grace is embodied in the person of Christ. You cannot talk about grace without talking about Christ. And you cannot talk about Christ without talking about grace.
Grace is receiving God’s favour at the expense of Christ. This means that we receive God’s blessings of healing, prosperity, good marriage, successful career, at the expense of Christ. Today, God accepts you not because you are good. Your goodness is not what makes God to accept you. Your divine acceptance is based on Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” None of us has the right to boast in the presence of God. Grace stops all the boasting of men. You cannot say you will make it to heaven because you have lived right – you don’t have that right – the cross has removed all of that right. We are saved by grace through faith.
Romans 3:27-28 says, “Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”
I love God’s grace. It is all of Christ and none of us. Grace makes me more dependent on God than my works to be accepted of God. It makes me more conscious of Christ than of myself. And the more conscious you are of Christ, the more victory you will experience in your life.
Grace is what brought you the righteousness of God. Grace is what qualifies you for all of God’s blessings. And this is all because of what Jesus did for you at the cross where He removed all of our sins and His righteousness was imputed to us. He took our poverty and gave us His inexhaustible riches. He took our sicknesses and gave us His health. Receive God’s abundant grace and you will reign in this life.
