BURDENS - KEY TO CHANGING YOUR WORLD

1 Corinthians 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! KJV

I read a book by Bishop Dag Heward Mills, Pastoral Ministry, where he narrated how several years ago, they went to a prayer meeting in a forest, spent several hours praying, and all they were asking God for was “burdens”. I believe today, that prayer is speaking. And today, how many people go to a prayer meeting and ask God for burdens?

Moses had a burden to see Israel liberated from the clutches of Pharaoh; David’s passion was to bring down Goliath and save Israel from reproach; Jesus’ burden was to see the whole world saved; Paul’s burden was to see the gospel spread across the Gentile world.

A burden to see apartheid end in South Africa was what kept Nelson Mandela in prison for almost 25 years; and he saw it come to pass. Martin Luther King had a passion to see the end of segregation; and he was ready to give his life for it.

World changers are all men of burdens. If you are going to change this world and impact lives around you, you would have to embrace a burden. There is no one who ever changed the world who was not a man of burdens.

When I talk about burdens, I am referring to a strong passion for a just cause that will bring blessings to humanity. What is your passion for life? What is the burden that keeps you awake at night? What drives you? If you don’t have any burden or passion, you are just existing, you will never make any difference.

The first key in making an impact on your world is to find a burden worth carrying. And then develop yourself and press for the fulfilment of that burden.
