YOU DON'T NEED TO CLEANSE YOURSELF BEFORE PRAYING

Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

In most prayer meetings that I have been to, they begin by confessing their sins and asking God’s forgiveness and cleansing before they kick into prayer. Even in the church that I grew up from, this was the norm. This is not consistent with scriptures. To them if you don’t cleanse yourself, God will not hear you. They will even quote an Old testament scripture which says, If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: (Psalms 66:18).

This was before the cross. After the cross, you need to know that things have changed. God does not hear our prayer because we do good things. God hears us because of Jesus. Jesus is the foundation and guarantee of answered prayer. After the healing of the man at the beautiful gate, Peter said, .....”Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?” (Acts 3:12)
Did you see that? Then he went on to say, “And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all” (Acts 3:16).

If you look at the story of the prodigal son, which best reveals the heart of the Father, you will realise that when the son returned home, before he said his rehearsed speech, the father run ahead of everyone and embraced him. In his pig-smelling state, he commanded the servants to throw a party for him, bring the best robe, and put a ring on his finger and put shoes on his feet.

I know what I am sharing may offend some people; but that’s simply because they haven’t taken the time to study the word for themselves; they have just followed blindly what was handed over to them without checking it to set the records straight. A certain gentleman was shocked at a lady who received the Holy Ghost and spoke with tongues. In his mind, this lady does not deserve to receive the Holy Ghost. Well, God looks into a man’s heart.

I have seen deaf ears unstopped; I have seen the dumb spoke; I have seen people who were using 3 eye glasses healed; I have seen legs grew; I have casted out devils. And when I prayed, I didn’t confess any sin nor asked for cleansing. My faith was in Jesus more than my weaknesses and faults. And hence I have seen the power of God demonstrated in my ministry.

There is no where in the New Testament that we ever saw people cleansing themselves from sin before praying. The Holy God you are talking about already lives in you. If you are not clean, you cannot house the presence God. The fact that God is living inside you, implies that you are clean and holy.

Scripture says, Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Don’t let satan rob you of the blessedness of prayer because of some wrong you might have done. That’s the time you even need to go to God boldly and obtain grace and mercy.
