STRIVE TO BE GENEROUS

1 Corinthians 9:7 Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving]. The power of a generous life is awesome and indescribable. Generosity releases power. Sometimes your way out of a predicament is your seed. You can give your way out of poverty.

Every believer should aim to be a generous person. There is no blessing in being stingy. The man who scatters his seed will end up having more. While the man who holds back, will end up lacking. You have to decide where to pitch your tent. The scripture is clear on this:

Proverbs 11:24‭-‬26 says, “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. 25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. 26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.”‬‬‬

Losers hold back. Givers are winners. Your goal in life should be to be generous. Always strive to increase in your giving. Never think on how to cut back on your giving. Don’t allow stingy folks to pull you back with their stingy way of thinking.

Take on after your heavenly Father. Romans 8:32 says, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” God is a Giver. He gave us first before we ever gave Him anything. God is not after our substance. After all, everything that we have He gave it to us. If God ever asks us to give Him anything, it is simply because He wants to do mighty things in our lives. God is not a taker – He is the ever-giving God.

And you were born after your heavenly Father – you cannot be stingy – the seed of generosity is already inside you. You have the nature of your heavenly Father; and that nature is a giving nature. God gave us His best who is Jesus. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God demonstrated to us a life of generosity. And because God gave us His only begotten Son, He has reaped mighty harvest of souls which is still ongoing today. Cultivate a life of generosity. Look at the life of generous people, both in scriptures and around you, and let them inspire you to be generous.
