Ezekiel 44:31 The priests shall not eat of any thing that is dead of itself,...... whether it be fowl or beast.
Not all food are safe. There are foods that kill. What you feed as a believer in Christ will eventually determine the outcome of your life. If you feed on the wrong messages, your life will go in the wrong direction. One wrong message can destroy your entire life. Jesus told us to take heed to what we hear.
Our opening scripture tells us that the priest is not supposed to eat anything that dies of itself. Blood is life. When an animal is killed, blood is shed. And this makes it safe for eating. When an animal dies of itself, chances are, blood was not shed. Shedding of blood is very vital. The blood of bulls and goats were used as sacrifices for the atonement of sins. And without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins (Hebrews 9:22).
It is imperative that blood was shed. This was why Jesus was not strangled to death but was nailed to the cross and shed His precious blood. In the New Testament, every born again child of God is a priest. Now you are told as a priest not to eat an animal that dies of itself. That means you are to eat an animal that was killed and slaughtered by the shedding of blood.
Blood here is a picture of the blood of Jesus. What this means is that you are not supposed to feed on messages that lacks blood in it. Any message that doesn’t have the undertone of redemption or the grace of God, is dangerous to your spiritual health as a believer in Christ. If you continue to feed on such messages, it will kill you financially, health wise, maritally, ministerially, etc.
Messages like miracles are not for today, God heals sometimes, God puts this sickness on you to humble you; money is the root of all evil, we are not sure which Christian will make it to heaven, are all dangerous to your faith; they lack blood hence they don’t have the divine attestation of God.
From today, don’t just listen to any kind of message. Make sure that what you are hearing and feeding on has blood on it. It has to be a message that is consistent with the cross. It has to be a message that puts Jesus at the center.
