CHANGING THE FOCUS
CHANGING THE FOCUS

Hebrews 8:10, 12 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
The Old Testament focus was on self and the works of man. Your blessing was based on your good works and obedience to God’s commandments. If you take a careful look at the Ten Commandments, you will realize that it is all about “Thou shall not”. It is about what you do and not what God has done. Thus the focus was always man.
In the New Testament, the focus is on Christ’s obedience and not ours. Of course, your obedience of faith is vital for the release of God’s blessings in your life. But it is not your obedience that qualifies you for the blessing. We are already blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places because of what Christ did for us (Ephesians 1:3). We are blessed because we are the seed of Abraham. Our faith only releases these blessings.
God is moving the church from the preoccupation of ourselves to Christ. Under the new covenant, Christ has become our life. Colossians 3:4 says, “Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
In another place, Apostle Paul said, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20).
The believer in Christ lives by the promptings of the Spirit and not by written code of the law. Romans 7:6 says, “But now we are discharged from the Law and have terminated all intercourse with it, having died to what once restrained and held us captive. So now we serve not under [obedience to] the old code of written regulations, but [under obedience to the promptings] of the Spirit in newness [of life].” AMPC
Christ is at work in you. Your righteousness is not by your obedience; it is a gift given to you by God on the account of Jesus. It is no longer what we do to be accepted by God; rather it is what Christ did for us. The more you emphasize on Christ’s finished work in your life, the more dominion you have over the enemy. Keep beholding Christ. The more you do, the more you are transformed from glory to glory. Hallelujah!
