REVELATION - A COMMON THREAD AMONG MEN OF PRAYER

Thursday Evening ServiceREVELATION - A COMMON THREAD AMONG MEN OF PRAYER

Luke 2:25‭-‬26 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. KJV‬‬‬‬

Simeon was a man who was a devout man – this means this man was devoted, one who was consistent with his devotion to God. He was a man of prayer. No wonder it was revealed to him that he will not die until he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And when Jesus was brought into the temple to be dedicated, he came by the Spirit and blessed Jesus – he knew that this little baby was the Christ.

There is another woman in the Bible who also lived a devout life. Her name is Anna:

Luke 2:36‭-‬37 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. KJV

There is another man in scripture who was also a devout man. His name is Cornelius, a Roman centurion:

Acts 10:1‭-‬4 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. KJV‬‬‬‬

Something common with these people was that, they were all men who heard from God and had revelation of God. They were opened to the voice of God. This is what happens to men who are devout, who have given themselves to prayer consistently. It is very rare to see a man of prayer who does not hear from God – it is very strange. When you are a man of prayer, you will not necessarily ask God to speak to you before He does. As you pray consistently, you will hit a realm; the moment you hit that threshold of revelation, suddenly, your ears and eyes will be opened to hear and see.
