Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

There is a clear difference between preaching condemnation and purity. Condemnation never shows anyone the way out of his sin; it only condemns the guilty one. We should not mistake condemnation for purity preaching; neither should we mistake purity preaching for condemnation; just stay in the balance and you will not get into the ditch.

God is a holy and righteous God; and so are you if you are truly born again. And God’s desire is that we live lives that bring glory to His name (Mathew 5:16). Our testimonies as believers in Christ must be one worth emulating. We are the lights of the world and salt of the earth.

The life of Daniel always inspires me anytime I read about him. This was a man who was not born again and was not filled with the Spirit as we have today in the New Testament. And yet his lifestyle is far beyond the reach of many believers today. Scripture says, But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank:...... (Daniel 1:8).

Daniel’s secret was that he had a strong desire for purity. He wasn’t ready to allow anything to come between him and his God. He withstood anything that tried to stand against his faith in God, including defying the king’s order, and endangering his life to be fed to the lions.

Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king’s meat which had been offered to idols. And for that reason, God promoted Daniel and he served different kings that came through in different regimes. Bishop David Oyedepo is not the richest pastor in the world for nothing. His trust in God is very inspiring. This is the man that can return people’s offering if he thinks something is wrong with it. Sometimes he would ask a public official who has given him an offering: I hope this is your personal money? How many pastors in our world today can do that?

I counsel you like Daniel, to purpose in your heart to stand for what is right irrespective of the outcome. Not to stand for anything is to fall for everything. Have some godly convictions in life. Personally, there are certain things that I settled about them a long time ago; they are just no-go areas, not to be considered nor given a second thought. Loving the Lord includes doing the things that pleases Him. Your standard of living must be far higher than the unsaved, till they are drawn to your light. The grace to live for Jesus be yours in abundance!
