GOD IS NOT IMPUTING YOUR SINS TO YOU
GOD IS NOT IMPUTING YOUR SINS TO YOU

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Sometimes I wonder whether this scripture is in the Bible. Why is it that folks don’t preach much about it? Some will tell you that if you preach it, you are giving people license to sin. Then why did God put it into the scriptures if He knows it will give license to sin? Most of all these assertions are all carnal and religious, lacking scriptural foundation.
According to our opening scripture, God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their sins unto them. The word “imputing” which is an accounting term means to count, to take into account, to reckon or take an inventory. What this means is that God is not charging the sins of the world unto their account; He is not taking an inventory of their sins. This is pure gospel! This is too much for the human mind to comprehend.
If God is not imputing the sins of the world unto them, how much more the new creation in Christ Jesus? This is serious! Let us be humble enough to take God at His word. We should not try to use sentimental embellishments to taint what God has clearly said in His word.
When you read the scripture, put your theology, emotions and traditions aside, and allow the Holy Ghost to guide you into the truth of the word. Without the guidance of the Spirit you will walk in error.
How can anyone in his right mind hear this kind of pure gospel and would want to sin against God? I can’t even fathom that possibility. There is nowhere in scripture that God says, it is okay to sin. But at the same time He let’s us know that there is therefore now no condemnation for you even if you sin. This gospel only draws me into a close walk with the Lord, loving Him and living to please Him.
The foundation for God not imputing the sins of the world unto them is the cross. Over 2000 years ago, on a lonely hill, Jesus took all the punishment for the sins of mankind for all eternity. Those who believe in Him are justified from all things. Today, our reason for living right is because God said so, we love Him and we are shining His light to the world for others to come into this glorious light. What is your reason for living right? Love or fear?
