Genesis 13:2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
Today’s money is losing value by each day through inflation. This is one reason why it makes a lot of financial sense to hedge your money. As governments around the world prints more money, it loses its value. In 1971 when President Nixon took the dollar off the gold standard, the dollar stopped being money and it became a currency.
In real essence money is not wealth. If the government of this country Ghana decides that the Ghana cedi is no longer a legal tender, what happens to your millions of cedis that you have? Useless! So you see, the value of anything called money is determined by the government.
If you have let us say 300 apartment units, the government cannot come and say that your building is not a building. That does not make sense. So you see, your building is wealth. It can be valued at a certain amount of money. If you have gold, it can be valued at certain amount of money. And no government can say that your gold has no value.
Thus your goal in life is not to have lots of money, but to have lots of wealth. You must build wealth and not just have large amounts of money in the bank – that’s not financial sense. The rich don’t keep their money in one place. Their money is always moving and acquiring wealth and assets that generates money. You need to understand what wealth is. Money is not wealth.
Abraham was rich in cattle, gold and silver. Do you see what wealth is? Do you want to tell me that because Abraham did not have the dollars that you have or some currency implies that he was not rich? Again, wealth is not money and money is not wealth. Abraham knew what wealth truly was and he built it. He had silver and gold and cattle.
Look at the wealth of Job, the greatest man in the east: His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east (Job 1:3). There is nothing about money that is mentioned here. All that is described here is wealth.
