Pastor Victor
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
One time I stood in our church and said to our members, “I am not your friend; I am your pastor.” Some couldn’t get what I said. But that is the truth. Your pastor is not your friend. God gave you a pastor and not a friend. God gave you a shepherd to watch over your soul. Your pastor is not your friend. You are to embrace this truth with all humility.
The day your pastor becomes your friend, you will stop receiving from him. God does not want you to be familiar with your pastor. Familiarity is dangerous and a hindrance to the anointing.
Creflo Dollar said, “The two most susceptible people to temptation is the gifted and the privileged.” If you are too close to your pastor, you will have to really discipline yourself not to be familiar with him, you could take him for granted.
Haven’t you seen that sometimes mantles on a ministry passes from the church to someone else somewhere, who is not even a member of the church? This happens because the people in the ministry took the anointing for granted, they became familiar.
Scripture admonishes you to esteem your pastor very highly in love. It is for your own benefit. Study the Bible and you will get to know that the people who rebelled and became familiar with the anointing were those closest to the anointing. Aaron and Miriam became so familiar with Moses that they no longer saw him as their spiritual leader.
No matter how close you are to your pastor, make sure you do not get familiar with him. Revere and respect the anointing that he carries and you will be greatly blessed.
