NEITHER DO I CONDEMN YOU

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Jesus is the most remarkable person that ever stepped foot on this earth. Just reading about His life and ministry in the gospels just greatly inspires me. Our opening scripture are the words that Jesus spoke to a woman who was caught in adultery, in the very act. The Pharisees and Sadducees who never liked Jesus brought this adulterous woman to Jesus.
They told him, Moses told us in the law such a person should be stoned; but what do you say? These hypocrites weren’t interested in Jesus’ answer; they wanted a way to accuse Him of breaking the law of Moses so that they can have a righteous ground to destroy Jesus.
I love Jesus! He was the coolest person that ever lived. While they spoke to Him, He did not answer them. Then He lifted up Himself and said, he that is without sin, let him be the first to cast the stone. By these words, they were convicted of their sins, from the eldest to the least of them, and they left one after the other.
Then came the words: Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. How comforting that was to this poor woman. She never expected that; she was expecting the worse. But Jesus gave her the gift of no condemnation. If you listen to what people preach, they have it in the reverse: go and sin no more, and we will not condemn you.
Jesus first gave the woman the gift of no condemnation before He asked her to go and sin no more. It will suffice to say that, the reason that people today in the church don’t have power to go and sin no more is that, they have not received the gift of condemnation.
People think that when they preach hot on condemnation people will truly repent; that is not true – very often it is the opposite that happens. According to scriptures, condemnation always kills. There is a difference between preaching condemnation and purity. Condemnation does not show the people the way out their sin; it only makes them feel guilty. Feeling guilty is not genuine repentance. Genuine repentance is a change of mind by God’s word to go in the right direction.
If you desire to live right, which I believe you do, receive first the gift of no condemnation; then you will be empowered to go and sin no more. That’s just the way it works. You cannot give what you don’t have. You cannot walk in what you have not received. When you believe that God does not condemn you inspite of your sins, then you can have power to go and sin no more.
