Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Just the topic will put religious folks off. Jesus told the Pharisees that, you err not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God (Matthew 22:29). This is truth. If you don’t truly know the scripture and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, you will walk in error. This is how a lot of folks have journeyed into error. And many preachers have used our theme scripture to beat so many believers in Christ.
Our opening scripture is an Old Testament scripture. When man sinned in the garden, sin separated man from a holy God. Anyway, God did not run away from man as some folks will want us to believe. Rather He came and clothed man’s nakedness. This is what God seeks to do and still doing – clothing man’s nakedness. He is not a God looking for who is not living right to strike him with some plague. He came to seek and to save that which was lost. God is a good God. Today in the New Testament church, we have preachers still preaching that when a believer sins he is separated from God; and he has to repent and confess his sins in order for him to be restored to God again. This is just not true. If it is true then our relationship will be based on our works and not on Jesus’ perfect work. I think such preachers should be removed from the pulpit; they are serving death to God’s precious folks.
Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
We have eternal redemption and not momentary redemption; it implies redemption that cannot be lost. The believer is forever perfected by Christ’s finished work, never to be separated from God. We all believe that when we were sinners, no amount of good deeds could unite us to God; and this was caused by the work of the first Adam in the Garden of Eden. Why do we think that what the second and last Adam, Jesus did, can be thwarted by just one sinful act? What we are trying to say is that, the first Adam is stronger than Jesus. And we all know that that is a big lie. Our fellowship and relationship with God cannot be broken because we did not get it by our deeds. Hence our sins cannot separate us from God. We are forever one and totally joined to the Lord Jesus. Hallelujah!
