WISDOM IS ESSENTIAL FOR LIFE

Proverbs 4:7‭ Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Wisdom is the principal thing. The word principal is from the Hebrew word “reshiyth” which means first, beginning, best, chief, choice part. From the Strong’s Concordance, it means the first, in place, time, order or rank, beginning, chief principal. What these various definitions implies is that, wisdom is number one. There is no other ingredient that is greater in life than wisdom. If you have any problem, it is a wisdom problem. The moment you get the appropriate wisdom for that situation, that situation is done and dusted. Since wisdom is the principal thing, it implies that if you lack it you are sunk.

Far lack of wisdom many have wrecked their own lives; and they are suffering unnecessarily; and many have journeyed into a land of no return. For the sake of this subject, we will restrict our teaching of wisdom to practical wisdom for every day living; this is sometimes called prudence. There are different kinds of wisdom as scripture teaches especially when you study both in the Hebrew and Greek languages. In the Greek , wisdom is translated from words like Sophia, sunesis, phronesis etc.

Prudence is practical wisdom; it is wisdom one needs for daily living. This is the wisdom that guides you to make the right choices and decisions, avoid pitfalls and mistakes, take right steps that will result in fruitfulness and profit, choose the right friends, choose who to marry, when to talk and how to talk and what to say. This is wisdom that will teach you what to do with your money, marriage, career, health, ministry, and every other thing.

This kind of wisdom that I am sharing with you is what will help you to run that school and transform it into a success, help you to run your business successfully. This wisdom will help you to avoid grievous mistakes and blunders. There are even preachers who for lack of wisdom have shipwrecked their own ministry. Even though they became famous, one foolish decision brought everything they have laboured for over the years tumbling down in an instant. Being famous does not necessarily mean one is wise. Anyone can have a gift, and through appropriate use can shoot into stardom. But to walk in true success and sustain the success for the long haul, it will require prudence.

I heard of one particular famous preacher who God so blessed him with millions of dollars worth income, coming in every month; he was also blessed with an incredible television ministry. This man went and had an affair with a prostitute in a hotel. Whatever folks may call it, it landed him in big trouble and lost so much. This is dumbness in the highest dimension.

Christ is your wisdom; let His wisdom guide you to make the right choices in life, take the right actions, and flow in the company of wise men. Make wisdom your daily prayer; it will help you a great deal. Wisdom is essential for life; get it. Praise God!
