EAT AND SEE JESUS

Luke 24:30‭-‬31 And it came to pass, as he sat at the table with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.‬‬‬

There is power in eating. What you eat determines what happens to your body. In the physical realm, if you don’t eat, you will surely die. Your survival depends on you feeding on the right kind of diet. The whole incidence of the fall of man came as a result of eating; when Adam and Eve ate from the wrong tree, they fell from glory and died both spiritually and physically . They were completely separated from God.

The devil by his subtlety deceived Adam into believing that when they eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they will be as gods. What Adam and Eve were blinded to was that they were already gods. Unfortunately, they ate from the wrong tree; and when they did, something remarkable happened: their eyes were opened they saw their nakedness. Then came fear and guilt on them; and when God showed up in the garden, they went into hiding, using fig leaves to cover their nakedness.

The question is, why didn’t they see their nakedness all this while? While they were conscious of God, they never saw that they were naked. But the moment they ate from the forbidden tree, their eyes were opened to see the wrong stuff. In the midst of the garden of Eden was the tree of life; and God commanded man to eat of all trees including the tree of life except, for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
What baffles me is why Adam left the tree of life and went for something he has been commanded not to eat. Man has not changed that much, always going for what he has been told not to do.

On resurrection morning, the risen Jesus taught us a beautiful lesson when He encountered two of His disciples on the road to a city called Emmaus. He had walked with them for 7 miles while expounding the scriptures to them of things concerning Himself from Moses and the prophets. All this while they walked, they did not recognize who He was as Jesus was in His resurrected body, looking different from the Jesus that healed the sick and casted out devils.

While they sat at the table, Jesus took bread and blessed and broke and gave it to them. The moment they ate this special meal, their eyes were opened and they saw Jesus. One meal opened folks eyes and they saw their nakedness; here we see another meal opening folks eyes to see Jesus. The Lord’s supper is God’s tool to open the eyes of His people to know Jesus. If you will eat the Lord’s supper in faith on a consistent basis, your spiritual eyes will be opened and you will have awesome revelations of Jesus and your heart will burn with His love.
