anointing 2RELATING TO THE ANOINTING

2 Samuel 1:14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the Lord's anointed?

I love the man David. David was a man who was taught by the Spirit of God. He so knew the anointing more than any king or Judge in Israel. When news came to David about the death of Saul and Jonathan, he lamented greatly. He knew this thing ought not to be so. The man who came with the news was killed by David.

This man happened to be on Mount Gilboa. While the battle raged, an archer shot an arrow and hit king Saul. Upon this Saul fell on his sword; the Philistines were marching towards him and he knew they will kill him. He asked the Amalekite to kill him; and he did. So in essence it was Saul who requested to be killed. Yet when this fellow came to David with the news, David killed him.

Now someone may ask, why did David kill the man when it was Saul who requested for it? David killed him because he had killed the Lord’s anointed. As far as David was concerned, no one has the right to touch the anointed one of God, he being rejected by God notwithstanding. Some fellow thought David would have had a celebration upon hearing that king Saul was dead. But he didn’t; rather He made a great lamentation. David had a heart that many folks in our day do not possess even though he was an Old Testament man.

On two occasions he had the opportunity to kill Saul who was hunting for his precious life, and yet he did not kill him. In one of those instances, he cut the garment of Saul for evidence. And yet his heart smote him for doing that. David knew that anyone who had been anointed should not be treated lightly. David esteemed the anointing greatly. No wonder it worked for him in a mighty way, and he was the only king in Israel who saw his successor enthroned.

I would to God we in this generation will have this kind of understanding David had. As a child of God in Christ Jesus, learn not to speak against an anointed man of God. It is dangerous! Even if he is wrong, you have no authority to lampoon him. Folks who attack and put their mouth on men of God gets destroyed in life. When I hear members of a church who are trying to straighten out their Pastor, I shudder. It is no use attacking your Pastor; it is foolishness because your Pastor is for your advantage and promotion. Learn to relate well with the anointing and you will be greatly blessed.
