WATCH OUT FOR THE DEVIL IN THESE TEACHINGS
WATCH OUT FOR THE DEVIL IN THESE TEACHINGS

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
In other translations, the word “substance” in our opening scripture is translated assurance, confidence, sure and certain. These are very important words. It implies that faith gives you assurance, confidence and certainty. Hence any teaching that does not make you certain and confident about the things of God is not faith hence unscriptural.
The devil we are dealing with is a subtle and cunning fellow. If you are ignorant of his devices and schemes, you will fall flat for his lies and become a victim. One strategy satan uses most against God’s people is “the questioning of what God had said thus putting man in a place of doubt and uncertainty about God’s word”. Look at what he said to Eve in the Garden of Eden:
Genesis 3:1, 4-5........ And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
This guy is a maverick; he dares questions what God had said and also painted God black as someone who does not have man’s interest at heart. I believe by now you are getting the message I am trying to get to you. There are several of these messages making rounds in the body of Christ. And in my estimation, the worst of these is the teaching that put salvation of the believer in doubt, salvation by works. This is the greatest heresies of all time.
This kind of teaching asserts that if you die with a sin or an unconfessed sin in your life, you are headed for hell. It is a kind of teaching that puts salvation on the works of man and not on Jesus. This teaching is not from God but from hell. The devil is the originator of this teaching. Look at how funny we look in the body of Christ to the world:
We go out there and tell sinners to accept Christ and they will be saved and make it to heaven. We tell them that their good works cannot save them but Christ. Now when they come to Christ, we tell them that if they don’t straighten out God will burn them in hell. Hence we are not really sure who will make it to heaven. This is nonsense! Faith is certainty of God’s word; and God’s word concerning our salvation is certain: we are saved by grace through faith only and not of works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The devil is hiding in many teachings in the church. Watch out for them and reject them; get grounded in grace. True salvation is only faith in Jesus’ finished work of redemption which takes away all the boasting of men. You are God’s darling irrespective of what you might have done. Praise God!
