Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
In basic electricity, we know that it takes both positive and negative electrodes to produce power. It is not one without the other. If it is all positive it will not produce power for work; on the other hand, if it is all negative, it will not produce power. To have power, you need the combination of both positive and negative charges.
In the kingdom of God, it is the same thing. You need to know that God has His own positive and negative electrodes; and these are grace and faith. If you don’t have this basic understanding of the New Testament, you cannot have balance in scriptures and you will falter and go into tangent. It is the combination of grace and faith that produces power for effective living.
It is not all grace; neither is it all faith. In the body of Christ, there are those who are skewed all the way to faith while there are those who are skewed all the way to grace. Those of grace says, it is all up to God and what He has done in Christ. Those of the faith side says, it is all about what my faith can do; the emphasis is on “me”. Again, it is neither one of the two; it is the combination of the two that produces power.
We are saved not only by grace alone but by grace through faith. Grace finished the work for our salvation, health, peace of mind and prosperity in Christ. Now there has to be a response of faith to what grace has accomplished. If faith does not respond to grace, there will be no power for works; and that’s spiritual responsibility. This is the balance of the New Testament. It is not “law and grace” but “grace and faith”.
Typology confirms this vital truth in the New Testament. Abraham is a type of faith while Sarah is a type of grace. When both of them came together, the result was Isaac which means laughter. It is not enough to know what grace has accomplished for you; through God’s word which produces faith, you have to engage these redemptive truths with your faith for the release of your laughter which is as a result of miracles and blessings.
