Pastor Victor
Luke 5:5-6 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have TOILED all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy WORD I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
Life can be that easy! I know someone will say, no pastor Victor – life is very hard. Well, it all depends whether you have the right keys to life. Take this scenario for example: if you are behind a locked door and all the keys with you are the wrong keys, you know it will be difficult opening that door; in fact, you cannot open it. But if you have the right key, will it be difficult opening that door? The answer is no.
It is the same thing with life. If you don’t know what to do, life will definitely be hard for you. But if you know what to do and you apply your knowledge, life will just be that easy for you. Of course challenges may come, but they are just bread for you and for your promotions.
You have to choose whether to toil or switch to the word of God. Our opening scripture is a story about how Peter and his friends toiled all night on a fishing adventure but caught nothing; that can be very frustrating. With all their fishing experience they caught nothing. They were heading home probably to tell their story of failure to their families.
Then came Jesus to the shore of Galilee. He asked Peter to use his boat as a platform to preach to the thick crowd present. When He was done preaching, He turned to Peter and said, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught (Luke 5:4). Peter responded, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net (Luke 5:5).
Peter sized the man who spoke those words and said, there is something strange about this man; and because of that I will obey Him. Peter went against his head and acted on the word of Jesus. And when he did, he ended up with a net breaking miracle, load of fishes. What his toiling and fishing experience could not do, the word did it. The word that Jesus spoke brought fishes at a time when fishers don’t go for fishing. He astounded all the laws of fishing.
Peter switched from “toiling” to the “word”. I think it is time we switch from toiling and hard labour to the word of God. If you will give diligent attention to God’s word, you will receive Rhema that will put you over the circumstances of life. It will make life easy for you and people will wonder why things are working for you. Expose yourself to relevant teaching of the word concerning your situation, and receive light to chase out every darkness and devil from your life.
