John 16:7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. NIV

One of the Ministries of the Holy Spirit to the believer is His Judicial function – He serves as your Advocate in Judicial matters concerning the kingdom of God.

Who is an advocate? An advocate is simply a lawyer who speaks for another in the court of law to convince a judge to give a favorable judgment to his client.

This is what the Holy Spirit does for us. You must know that God is also a Judge – He is the Judge of the whole universe – and at the right time He will judge all men.

In the court of law, the advocate petitions the judge to favour the cause of his client. When we come to God in prayer to petition God about a matter concerning us, the Holy Spirit, our Advocate, helps us to present our petition in an excellent manner for a good hearing.

No one goes to court to defend himself – you hire a lawyer who is acquainted with the laws to help you petition the judge for you.

Through praying and groaning in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit helps us to present a solid case before the Father for answers. And also, as we pray in the Spirit and we are inspired, the Holy Ghost put words in our mouth that we can speak in prayer for great results.

This is why as a believer in Christ, you must receive the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues is one way the Holy Spirit functions as an Advocate for you.

Your words are limited in the spirit to communicate effectively. When you pray in tongues it is the Holy Spirit praying through you with the right words. Practice speaking in tongues and let loose the Judicial Ministry of the Holy Spirit for your advantage.
