THE CLEANSING EFFECT OF PRAYER

Acts 4:31 [31]And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Prayer is to the believer what taking a good bath does to the body. After a hard day’s work, one of the good things you can do to yourself is to take a good shower. The feeling is awesome! It washes away all the sweat and dirt on your skin and makes you fresh and sharp.

This is what prayer does to the believer in Christ when he prays. As we go about our daily routines, we encounter the dirt of unbelief, fear and doubt from people we encounter along the way. And these dirt can dull your walk with Christ.

When the early church came under threats for preaching Christ, from our opening scripture, when they prayed, their fears were washed away, and they were filled with boldness.

Prayer serves as a shower to cleanse all that filth of fear and unbelief. This is one main reason you have to pray consistently on a daily basis.

Just like you take shower daily, prayer must be done daily.

Truth is parallel. What is true in the natural is also true spiritually. Just like taking your shower daily helps to keep your body clean from foul smell, the same thing happens when you pray – it keeps your soul clean.

Remember this is no cleansing from sin – the blood of Jesus has done that already. This is cleansing from fear, doubt, unbelief, lust and the filth of the world. Hallelujah!
