GOSPEL TRANSMUTATION!
GOSPEL TRANSMUTATION!

Galatians 1:6-7 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
The word “pervert” in our opening scripture is from the Greek word “metastrephō” which according to Thayer means to turn around. Strong defines it as to turn across, transmute or corrupt, pervert, turn. It actually means to “transmute” the gospel of Christ into another of a different kind which is not the gospel.
Transmutation is about changing the true nature of an object thus making it totally different from the original one. It is like changing gold to brass. And this is what some section of the body of Christ have done to the glorious gospel of Christ. They have changed the gospel of grace into another of a different kind (heteros, Greek) gospel which is not another of the same kind (allos, Greek).
Some believers who were Jews but observed the law of Moses came to the Galatian church and told them that, if they don’t circumcise and obey the law of Moses, they cannot be saved; that just believing in Jesus alone is not enough for their salvation. Imagine the nonsense! This perversion frustrated and negated the faith of the believers in Galatia.
Apostle Paul was angry with this gospel transmutation and wrote a very strong letter to them to turn them back to the gospel of grace. It is not different today. I believe today’s church have perverted the gospel more than ever before.
Some folks can’t simply accept the fact that just believing and confessing the Lordship of Jesus is enough for salvation. To them there has to be more; to them your works are important to complete your salvation; that if you don’t straighten out, you will miss heaven. This is gospel perversion and transmutation.
Apostle Paul told the Galatians that your salvation was purely based on your faith in Jesus; that you received the Holy Ghost by the hearing of faith and not works. These two gifts are the most important to the believer. This implies that all lesser gifts has to be received the same way, by the hearing of faith.
The true gospel is the gospel of grace; it is all of Christ and none of you. It is grace through faith and not of works lest any man should boast. No man will get to heaven and will be able to tell God that because I lived holy, that’s why I am here. If that is possible, then you don’t need Christ; you don’t need the cross. All that boasting was removed by the cross. Your faith must be in grace and nothing else.
