THE CROSS HAS REMOVED YOUR SINS

Psalms 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

The phrase “east from the west” is a picture of the cross of Christ. And by the cross of Jesus, God has removed our sins far from us. The death of Jesus was the payment for the sins of the whole world; it took care of all sins of all time, including the sins before Christ came.

There is no sin that was not covered by the redemptive work of Christ. Thus the sin that will actually take people to hell is “unbelief”. And this is the sin the Holy Ghost is here to convict the world of. John 16:8‭-‬9 says, “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me.”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Contrary to popular opinion, the Holy Ghost is not here to make the believer feel terrible about his sins. You do not need to remind people of their sins. Most believers know that what they are doing is wrong. What they desire is a way out of their sins; and that’s what the gospel provides to them. Preach the gospel of grace to them and sin will not have dominion over them.

The sinner is still a sinner simply because he has not believed in Jesus’ payment for his sins. The day he believes in the finished work, he is justified from all things and all his sins are wiped out.

This is why we have to keep on preaching the gospel like never before for all men to hear. We need to preach the word of reconciliation that Christ has given to us. Reminding people of their sins will not work. They need to hear that their sins have been remitted. And when they believe, they will be saved. This is the gospel!

Dearly beloved, your entire life of sins have been removed by the blood of Jesus. Let that assure your heart. Just knowing that God doesn’t impute my sins to me just makes me fall in love with Him all over again. And it is the love of God that constrains us from evil. What people need is God’s love; and not another do’s and don’ts.
