Song of Solomon 4:6 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
In this scripture incense speaks of prayer – this is consistent throughout scripture. Revelation 8:4 says, And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
Thus when the Bible speaks of the “the hill of frankincense”, it is taking about “the hill of prayer”. This is where the woman in the opening scripture said, she want to go to. That woman is a picture of the church. As a church, God is calling us to the hill of frankincense – God is calling us to the hill of prayer.
Prayer should be the desire of every child of God. You should always desire to spend time with God in prayer. The day you lose that desire or fire for prayer, it is an indication that your spiritual life is going down – you have to arrest that situation quickly before it gets worse.
Life is more complicated than you think and to live in this world without prayer is very dangerous – it is not safe. There are a lot of things happening in the spirit world that we cannot see with our optical eyes but if we will pray consistently, especially spend a good amount of time praying in tongues, we will solve a lot of problems before they ever show up.
Prayer builds intimacy and that’s what the woman in the opening scripture was crying for – l will get me to the hill of frankincense. Hallelujah! Let your hunger and desire for prayer increase day by day. Discipline yourself to pray consistently. No one has time – you have to make time to pray. Sometimes take advantage of statutory holidays or vacations, and go somewhere alone and spend quality time in prayer with God. It will change your life forever.
