THE POWER OF CORPORATE PRAYER

Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
A praying church is a powerful church. And there is so much power in corporate prayer – our coming together in prayer is power that cannot be fathomed.
When the early church fasted and ministered unto the Lord, God spoke from heaven and gave them the direction for the next phase of the gospel assignment.
One time when they were threatened by the religious leaders of the day not to preach again in the name of Jesus, they gathered together to pray. This was the result:
Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
This result cannot be produced when you pray alone. Private prayer is wonderful. But corporate prayer multiplies the strength of prayer.
Praying over nations, cities and our churches can done more effectively when we pray in a corporate setting. The results are quick.
If the church will grow and do mighty things we must encourage our coming together to pray in unity. No church can do big things by the prayers of the Pastor alone – they must come together to pray.
And in fact, most people learnt how to pray from corporate prayer. Hence if we encourage corporate prayers, we will raise more prayer warriors who will eventually be able to take prayer to their private lives.
