THE WORD IS GOD-BREATHED

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The word is God-breathed. It implies that God’s word came out of His breath. Hence when you take in the word, you are actually taking in a dose of God’s breath. And that breath was breathed into Adam and he became a living a soul (Genesis 2:7). In our opening scripture, the phrase “given by the inspiration of God” is from one Greek word “theopneustos” which means “divinely breathed in” – it is breath from Almighty God.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

From this scripture we see that the word is spirit; and word “spirit” is from the Greek word “pneuma” which means “a current of air or breath.” Hence the “word” is the breath of God. And it is this breath of God that quickens or give life. Glory to God! The word imparts life. All living creatures have to breathe in order to stay alive – it is one of their characteristics.

For the believer, the word of God is your breath. In order to stay alive in the spirit and be strong in the things of God, you have to take a daily dose of the current of the air of God – the word of God. The word is your breath; if you are not taking in the breath of God, then you are dying.

Air can be polluted. All around us we see how our precious air is being polluted all the time. Air pollution is one of our environmental challenges we have in the world. And if you breathe in polluted air, it can affect your life negatively. In the realm of the spirit it is no different; remember the physical is a representation of what happens in the spirit world.

The word of God can be polluted and corrupted – don’t be fooled. And today we have a lot of folks, especially preachers who are preaching things that are not consistent with the gospel truth, thereby making the word of none effect. There is a lot of word pollution going on in the body of Christ.

As believers in Christ, we have to be sure that the word we are hearing is not polluted and corrupted – we have to ensure that we are listening to the real authentic gospel of Grace which is the truth of God. Just as fresh air guarantees life, in the same way, fresh and unadulterated word will produce life and power.

When living things breathe in oxygen (air), a component in the cell called mitochondria takes it and produces energy which powers the various activities in the body. It is the same in the realm of the spirit; when we take in God’s word which is His breath, it produces energy in us which we use to control the various things we do such as our prayer life, finances, career, business and ministry.

This is one reason you must ensure that your are feeding on the word of God day and night. It will produce energy in you for exploits for they that know (have a revelation of God) their God shall do exploits.

Prayer of Salvation

Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
