YOUR KNOWING COMES FROM YOUR REST

Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

I love this scripture. What an inspiring thought. This scripture shows us the key to knowing God and seeing His power manifest. To be still means to be at rest. It implies rest from worry and anxiety; resting in the finished work of Christ; it also means speaking in tongues; it means Spirit directed activity. The concept of rest in scripture is such a powerful one. We all know that from the physical point of view rest is important. If you don’t get adequate rest for your body, it does not matter if you are the superman, you will wear and burn out.

You have to learn to rest from worry and anxiety. Scripture tells us in several places not to worry. Someone will say, Pastor Victor, I can’t help it, I just find myself worrying.

Mathew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

The fact that God told you not to worry means you can do it. Worry does no good. It only aggravates the situation. Some folks think that by worrying it will fix the problem. No it doesn’t; rather it worsens your situation. The cure for worry is love and faith in the word of God. If you believe the word concerning your situation, you will be at rest and you will begin to know God’s plan; and see His power at work. If God so cares for lilies and birds, how much more you His beloved?

Phillipians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Prayer coupled with faith cures worry. When you pray, what you do is that you hand over the matter to God. And if your case is on God’s desk then be rest assured that it has been taken care of. God wants us to walk with lots of assurance, knowing fully well that He is in control. When you are still, you easily have access to divine revelations. A man under stress and worry will seldom enjoy divine guidance.

Speaking in tongues is another form of rest. The Bible calls it the refreshing and the rest.

Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

One sure way to rest in the Lord is by speaking in tongues. This is one gift that is so neglected by many believers; but I believe it is the most important of all the gifts of the Spirit. All the other gifts of the Spirit depends on speaking in tongues to function well. The Apostle Paul was a man of powerful insight and revelations. As you read the Pauline epistles, you just stand in awe of the incredible wisdom of God. What was Paul’s secret?

1 Corinthians 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all.

That’s the key. The Bible talks about wisdom as deep fountain in the heart of a man. As you speak in other tongues, you can draw the wisdom you need to win in life from within you. You will never lack ideas; you will always know what to do. The next time you need ideas or don’t know what to do at a cross road, speak in other tongues.

As you do, the interpretations will come to you, and suddenly you will know what to do. When you study the word and a scripture jumps at you, take that scripture and meditate while speaking in tongues. Awesome revelations will be unveiled to you. Praise God!
