THE MYSTERY OF THE AXE HEAD THAT FLOATED

2 Kings 6:5‭-‬6 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed. And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. The axe head is the most important part of the axe. With it you can chop any wood down. Without the axe head, there is no use of the axe. The axe is only complete with the head on. The axe head is a picture of man. Man is the crowning beauty of God’s creation; he is the apex and zenith of God’s creative work.

When God created animals, vegetation, sun, moon and stars, he said it was good. But when man was created scripture says, and God saw that it was very good. Without man God’s creation is not complete. Man did not originate from apes as science would have us believe. Man was created by God on the sixth day of creation.

However, this apex of God’s creation sinned and disobeyed God and was lost. What do we mean when we say man was lost? It simply means that man was out of sight; buried and completely separated from the embrace of God. Man was no longer towing the path of God. Man sunk deep into the deep waters of sin and evil.

One time we were told in scripture that the sons of the prophets went out to cut down timber to build a house they wanted to live in. While they were cutting the wood, the axe head fell into the water, sunk, disappeared and buried out of sight. The Prophet Elisha cut a stick and placed it on the water and axe head floated and they picked it up.

The axe head that sunk is a picture of lost man. While we were lost and in sin, God sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ who came and died on the cross (stick), and by His death, brought man out of sin and bondage. Today, man had regain his rightful place in God through the cross.

Anyone who believes in Jesus will never be lost again. If we want lost men to be found and float again, let us cast the cross on the waters, and the axe head will float again.

Everything you have ever lost in life can only be recovered through the revelation of the cross. Let us preach the cross like never before and the lost things of life will be found. Your health will be found; your marriage will found when you turn to the cross.

Prayer of Salvation
Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
