GIVE HEED TO PASTORAL CARE
GIVE HEED TO PASTORAL CARE

Pastor Victor
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
One time while passing by a house, I saw a mother brushing the teeth of her son. This small boy was wrestling with the mother that he does not want his teeth to be brushed. Little did he know that what the mother was doing was to save his teeth from being destroyed. But at that age, because he lacks understanding, he doesn’t see the benefit of what the mother was doing for him.
After all, his teeth are not in his mother’s mouth. But because the mother loved the child and knows that if the teeth is not well taken care of, the boy will grow up with terrible teeth and unpleasant mouth odour that will be an embarrassment to himself, and may even destroy his self esteem.
This scenario is the same in the church. When a pastor is encouraging a brother in the Lord to be committed to the things of God, to that fellow, he may interpret that the pastor is disturbing him. Little did he know that what the pastor is doing is to save himself and not the pastor.
If this member heeds to the pastor and becomes strong and vibrant believer in Christ, it is for his own benefit and not the pastor’s. So, next time your pastor ask you to be consistent with church attendance, prayerful, study the word, call you to come to church, give your tithes and other financial commitments, just know that it is to your advantage and not the pastor’s.
Ironically, some of this members, even when things begin to work for them as a result of the pastor’s ministry, they may not even remember the pastor in question. Whatever you are asked to do in the house of God is for your advantage.
God is the one who inspires the pastor to encourage you to be faithful in the things of God; it is not of the pastor’s own accord. Thus if you disobey the pastor, you are really up against God, and that’s dangerous. Give heed to pastoral counsel and ministration for your own benefit.
Prayer of Salvation
Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
