WORKERS AND SHIRKERS!

WORKERS AND SHIRKERS!
Tuesday, 26th February 2019
Pastor Victor

Nehemiah 3:5 And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord.

Pastor Rick Warren once said that, "In every situation you’re going to have workers and shirkers.” As a Pastor, I have found this statement to be true. A worker is one who makes things happen while a shirker is a person who evades work, duty, and responsibility. You are either a worker or a shirker; there is no neutral ground.

Nehemaiah was an amazing leader. He was able to mobilise men to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days. That’s incredible! Even though Nehemaiah was a great leader, he couldn’t get the noble men of Tekoa to be involved in the vision of rebuilding. These leaders just refused to be part of what was happening.

In every church, there are these kind of people; they never get involved in anything in the house of God. These kind of people usually come to church late; nearly complain about everything in church; but never put their hand to any work in the church. These folks will not give for the work of Christ; they will not join any unit in the church; they will not participate in anything going on in church.

Every good Pastor wants to get everybody involved in the work of Christ. But the truth is that it is not possible. The unfortunate thing is that some pastors waste their time on this nonchalant folks trying to motivate them to work; they will only drain you. The wise thing to do as a leader is to spend your time on those who are responding and making things happen.

Invest your time in building these people. They are your assets as a leader. As for the shirkers, do what Nehemaiah did: ignore them. When we all get to heaven, each man is going to be rewarded according to his work and not according to his supervision. Rewards are for workers and not supervisors and shirkers.

Get involved in the house of God. Don’t be an onlooker. Be an encouragement to your Pastor and church. Give to the work of Christ. Join a unit and serve the Lord Jesus with your life.
