1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
One major of truth of the New Testament you have to know is that Jesus did not die as a martyr; He did not die for His beliefs. Rather He died as a sacrifice. Stephen died as a martyr just like the other Apostles of Jesus. But Jesus died as a sacrifice for many. This is vital!
You have to know intimately the essence of Christ’s death. Other than that you will not enjoy the full benefit of what He did on the cross for you. Jesus’ death was your death; this is basic truth. He did not die for Himself. Whatever He did in His redemptive work, He did it for you.
The wages of sin is death. God told Adam that in the day that you eat of this tree you will die. Thus Adam died, and all of us in him, the day he disobeyed God and ate from the wrong tree; death came upon all men. Man was now doomed to a life of eternal separation from God.
But Jesus came as our ransom and died in our place. The death we were supposed to die as a result of Adam’s disobedience, Jesus paid that price of death for us. Today, even though we sin, there is no more death or condemnation for us who have believed in Jesus as our Saviour.
If you are not born again and you are reading this, you do not have to go to hell. Hell is not meant for you. Salvation has come to you. The Just died for the unjust that He might bring us to God. Hallelujah! Accept Christ’s death as your death by faith. If you do, you will pass from death unto life; and there will be no more guilty conscience in your life. The power of guilt and condemnation will be broken.
There will be such an overwhelming peace flooding your heart; knowing fully well that the Father accepts you because of Christ’s work on the cross. You will have boldness and confidence in approaching God. There will be no fear even in the midst of your failures. Accept His death today!
Prayer of Salvation
Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
