Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, NKJV
This is one of the most beautiful ministry of the Holy Spirit to the believer in Christ. And I believe it is the least said ministry of the Holy Ghost. The Amplified translation puts our opening scripture this way: The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God (ROMANS 8:16) AMP.
How do you know that you are born again or saved? Is it by looking at how changed you have been in your character and morality? Or by how prosperous you have become ever since you got saved? The way you know that you are born again is the witness the Holy Ghost gives you on the inside. You just know that you born again beyond the senses and feelings.
How important is this ministry of the Spirit to us? The Holy Ghost is the one who brings the Fatherhood of God into our spirits. By Him we cry Abba Father! Sometimes we don’t even feel that we are saved. But this Holy Ghost keeps on assuring us that, hey my friend, you are still saved.
When the devil comes to you and tells you that you have lost your salvation because of some sin you have committed, the Holy Ghost comes with that witness, assuring your heart that you are a child of God; you just know that God is your Father and He will never leave you nor forsake you.
What some people preach, you may think that the Holy Ghost is here to nag about every wrong that you do. His ministry is not to remind you of your sins but to assure you that you are child of God with full sonship rights and privileges. Hallelujah! Receive this ministry of the Spirit and let Him assure your heart of your salvation to free your heart from every fear, guilt, and condemnation.
Prayer of Salvation
Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
