1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
When I look at the toys that my 3 year old boy plays with, it just makes me laugh, that, someone who hold on to such things and ready to resist his siblings who would like to take it from him. These toys doesn’t move me as an adult; I can’t even relate with it let alone play with it.
But you see, a time comes when my son has grown like me, and he will leave those toys behind and move on to something worthwhile. It just comes with growth.
It is the same spiritually; when you see a child of God who is playing in the mud with the lesser things in life – struggling with all kinds of bad habits, what that fellow need is spiritual growth and maturity. As you grow and mature in the things of God, certain bad habits and behaviour just drops off you. You see yourself being more concerned about the higher things in Christ.
For that reason, God’s people need to be taught the word of God like never before. The word of God is the only element required for growth and the maturity of the saints of God. You have to diligently apply your heart to the word of God; take time to listen to the word taught by anointed men of God.
When your knowledge in the word increases, and you have allowed the word to work on your attitude and character, certain low level lifestyle will just drop off you. If you are a pastor or leader in the house of God, be patient with babes in Christ. Just encourage them to grow – that should be your focus. Children will always be children. What they need is growth. Thus encourage growth and teaching of the word of God.
Prayer of Salvation
Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
