ENGAGE IN DILIGENT LABOUR

ENGAGE IN DILIGENT LABOUR

Proverbs 24:33‭-‬34 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The word of God is the wisdom of God. And when you embrace God’s word instead of your prejudiced mind, you will be set on high. Our opening scripture is very clear: if you are lazy, poverty will be your friend. Poverty and slothfulness goes together. I have never seen a lazy rich man. All rich men are all diligent in their business.

Laziness has no place in the world of riches. Proverbs 24:30‭-‬31 says, “I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.” The lot of the sluggard is thorns. Thorns according to scripture is a picture of the curse. All lazy men are under the curse of poverty. And the only cure to it is not prayer but diligent labour.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

When I hear people say that there is no job for me to do, I wonder, is it in this world we live in today where opportunities abound? Jesus proved that there is always work to do. According to the parable of the vineyard, the owner of the vineyard went out at the eleventh hour and found some people loitering about at the market place and asked, what are you doing here all day? They said, because no one has hired us. The man said, go into my field and work. There is work brother!

Prayer and fasting alone is not enough for a life of prosperity. Thank God for prayer but it is not enough. God only blesses the work of your hands. If your hands refuses to labour, there is nothing God is going to bless. Blessing (the empowerment) plus nothing equals zero.

In this country for instance, there are so many morning praying meetings organised by churches. Recently, I was just meditating and asking myself, all these tens of thousands of people who attend these morning prayer meetings, do all of them have their own businesses? If they are doing a 9 – 5 job, will they be able to attend these prayer meetings?

Well, it is just my thoughts – pardon me for that. But it tells you why a lot of Christians in this country are struggling financially. If thousands of people are in church at the time they are supposed to be at work, what will be their productivity in the job place? God help us all!

You have to find something to do with your hand. Think, meditate and pray. What are your skills? What are the things that you are good at? My wife always says, “God never made any man empty; everyone has something in him.” God asked Moses, what is in your hand? He said, a rod. And with that rod God brought out hundreds of thousands of people from bondage. What you have can change the world. May God open your eyes to see your potential. And may He cause opportunities to locate you. Refuse to be lazy. Rise up and work!

Prayer of Salvation
Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
Call or email us if you just prayed this prayer.
