Hebrews 5:12 By now you should have been teachers, but once again you need to be taught the simplest things about what God has said. You need milk instead of solid food. CEV
If you have been born again for about 3 years or more, you ought to be teaching someone the word of God by now. God expects growth and fruits from us at different stages of our walk of faith. Jesus went to the fig tree expecting to get some fruits; when He didn’t get one, He cursed it. It is dangerous to remain unfruitful in the kingdom of God.
The man who did not use his talent in the parable of the talent was termed a wicked man by Jesus. Of all the word of God that you have been hearing for years, what have you done with them? Who are you teaching the word of God? Who are you making into a disciple of Christ?
Growth is part of life naturally. Parents expect their children to do certain things at certain stages of their lives. When that does not happen, it is considered an anomaly. For instance, if a baby messed up himself, it is no news. But when a 10 year old does the same, then there is a big, big problem.
In the same manner, God expects you to do certain things at certain times in your Christian walk. Apostle Paul chided the Hebrew believers that they ought to be teachers by now, but still needed to be taught again the basic principles of Christ.
When I look around the body of Christ, we have a lot of believers but very few disciples; it is only very few people who have understood the gospel message; it is only few who are putting effort to grow in the things of God. Part of the great commission is to disciple the nations – we are to establish the brethren in the doctrine of Christ. So, don’t just convert people, but rather focus on discipling them.
It is time to grow and develop and become all that God wants you to be. You cannot remain a baby Christian forever. Enough of the spoon feeding. It is time to chew some meat; then you graduate to strong meat. Pay diligent attention to the study of God’s word; attend to prayer. Get Involved into the kingdom work and bear fruits unto eternal life.
Prayer of Salvation
Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
