Very often folks claim God spoke something to them. How can you be sure that what you heard was from God? What measuring line do we use to judge the voices that we hear? Not every voice you hear is from God. The devil also speaks. And he has led so many folks astray from the ways of God.
For instance, if you hear a voice that you should divorce your wife, is that from God? According to the scriptures, divorce is not from God thus that cannot be from God. If a prophet tells you that go and bring your gold or capital for business for him to sanctify it for you, you know that, that has no place in scripture; it cannot be from God.
The scriptures remain God’s number one way of leading His people. Bless God for the leading of the Spirit; but everything you hear must be judged by the scriptures. The scriptures is the guiding tool or standard to judge every prophecy, vision, voice or word.
For this reason, it is expedient that every child of God gets to know the word of God. You have to study the scriptures for yourself as a believer in Christ. This is something that no one can do for you. You have to strive to know the scriptures for yourself.
The good place to begin to unlock the scriptures is to listen to anointed teachings of trusted men of God. The more you submit to the ministry of anointed teachers of the word, the more understanding you receive in God’s word; it is the quickest way to gain understanding in the scriptures.
There are times that you need to hear a word from God. Sometimes while you are in a church service or listening to a tape, God can quicken a word in your heart. That quickening of the word is God’s word (Rhema) to you. You must subject every voice or thought to the judgment of scriptures. Get grounded in the word until you come to the place where you are no longer tossed to and fro by every false voice and prophecy.
Prayer of Salvation
Dear God, I believe that Jesus died and was raised for me. I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. I receive eternal life into my spirit. I declare that I am born again in Jesus’ name.
