2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
Jesus’ death on the cross is key to our prosperity. By His death He purchased our prosperity for us; He redeemed us from the curse of poverty and lack. There was a divine exchange that took place on the cross: Jesus became poor that you might be rich. This is a beautiful.
Of all things that Jesus became on the cross for us, this was clearly mentioned for us; the Holy Ghost took the time to clearly mention our deliverance from poverty on the cross. This tells you that the issue of wealth and money is important to God.
And for those who are against the teaching on prosperity, they should take a second look at the aforementioned scripture again. And please don’t try to spiritualise it. It has nothing to do with spiritual prosperity; it is purely financial prosperity. Let us be humble enough to accept what is clearly written in the scriptures to us.
If you listen to what some people preach, it seems as if Jesus died to give us poverty. Even some sections of the church are uncomfortable with prosperous ministers and ministries. I don’t know why some folks are uncomfortable with the prosperity of the church.
My dear friend, if the church does not have money in this 21st century, we cannot take over the world – preaching the gospel in this day and age cost money. The issue of financial prosperity is of great importance to the church.
When we talk about financial prosperity, we must keep our eyes on the cross. The cross must be our focus. The cross gave us all things that pertains to life and godliness. The curse of poverty has been broken from your life. Appreciate the divine exchange that took place on the cross for your financial prosperity; then learn the principles that governs financial prosperity and apply them to your life. Jesus becoming poor that you might be made rich is called grace. Hallelujah!
