LET JESUS WASH YOUR FEET

John 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
One of the beautiful ministries of Jesus to you today, is that of feet washing. Now, don’t get into tangent; I am not really referring to the feet washing service that churches do have. I am referring to a feet washing that is performed by Jesus to you.
In Bible days, it was part of the Jewish custom to wash their feet after returning home. Guests had their feet washed by their hosts. That is why Jesus told that Pharisee, ever since I came to your house you didn’t give me water for my feet.
By our feet we contact dirt. Even though you may have had your full bath, your feet is what easily contacts dirt as you walk. Now the feet speaks of our daily walk, where we walk. And as we walk in this world, we make contacts with the filth of the world.
The bad news, unbelief, thoughts of fear and doubt are all the filth of the world. Even religious teaching all forms the filth that one need to be cleansed from. The real filth is what comes to your mind, what you hear and see. This is where the washing need to take place.
On a daily basis, you have to wash your feet. Now, how do Jesus wash your feet today? He does that by the washing of the word. Ephesians 5:26 says, “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.” The word of God is the purifying agent of God that Jesus uses to cleanse you.
There were times you felt fearful and uncertain about life. But the moment you went to church and heard the word of God, all of a sudden, your fears disappeared and boldness and confidence returned to you. At that moment, you have experienced the washing of the water of the word. Jesus uses the pastor’s message to cleanse you His beloved. This is one main reason you do not have to skip church services. Every church service is a time to wash your feet.
Notice what Jesus said in our opening scripture: If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Jesus did not say you have no part “in me” but “with me”. “With me” implies your walk with the Lord. “In me” refers to you being in Christ. This means that if you do not allow Jesus to wash you with His word, even though you are in Christ, you cannot effectively walk with Jesus. Your efficiency as a believer is as a result of how much you have allowed the word of God to wash your mind. To the degree that you have been transformed by the word, is what determines your effectiveness.
