TITHING IS A PROOF OF GOD'S OWNERSHIP IN MY LIFE

Genesis 2:16 ¶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

This revelation is so big. In the garden, God commanded Adam to eat of every tree except one. This God did to show His ownership of the garden. This is where the principle of tithing was first revealed. The day Adam ate of that tree which belonged to God, he lost everything and has to fend for himself; he was driven away from God’s provision and has to go look for his own provision and supply. This is what happens to the man who eats his tithe.

Tithing shows that all I have God gave it to me; and if God gave it to me then He has to protect it because it belongs to Him. My tithing is a proof that all I have God owns it. Glory to God! Hence when I don’t tithe, it is a declaration that what I have I got it by myself and my effort – and this is not true. And in the process, God is not obligated to protect what I have. Then you have to use your strength to protect what you have. And I don’t think that is wisdom. Tithing is awesome! When tithing was mentioned in Genesis 14, we were not given the details of what it really represents. It was in the law that we were told what it truly represents.

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

It is clear in scripture that the tithe belongs to God. This is a specific offering that has been sanctified for God– it is one tenth of all increase. And this scripture tells us what happens when we tithe or not tithe. Don’t listen to preachers who tell you not to tithe. Prove the Lord by tithing and you will walk under open heavens.
