OUR MINISTRY IS TO CAUSE MEN TO INHERIT THE BLESSING

Deuteronomy 31:7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

As at this time Moses has brought the people so close to the promise land and he was giving final instructions to Israel and to Joshua. He told Joshua that he is to lead the people into the promise land and cause Israel to inherit the land. What a beautiful picture it gives concerning ministers of the gospel. Being in ministry is not a joke – it is serious business. You are dealing with people’s destinies.

Our ministry and message is to cause men to inherit the promises of God. I love the phrase: and thou shalt cause them to inherit it. The promise land is a type of our place and inheritance in Christ. Just like Joshua was to cause Israel to inherit the land, ministers of the gospel also are to cause men to inherit the blessings of God. And how do we accomplish this? It is through ministering the word of His grace.

Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

You see it is not just word of God but it is the word of His grace. Let me explain: there is the word of His law which is the Old Covenant; and there is also the word of His grace which is the New Covenant. It implies that the word of God that will grant the inheritance to the saints is the word that imparts grace to its hearers. Let whatever you preach have the undertone of grace. It is grace that builds up for the letter (the law) kills but the spirit (grace) gives life (2 Corinthians 3:6)

What a ministry we have received from the Lord Jesus! Henceforth make sure your ministry is causing men to receive their healing, joy, financial prosperity and abundance in Christ. And to be able to do this effectively, you have to spend quality time praying and studying the word and developing yourself to be more effective in the ministry of the word. Our ministry is to cause men to inherit the blessing.
