Isaiah 55:1-2 ¶ Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

This is God’s invitation to all men to come eat and drink freely of His provisions made available through Christ. All through scripture we see God making banquets and inviting guests to come and eat. For example, in the parable of the banquet that Jesus gave, some did respond, others didn’t respond. In our opening scripture, we see God calling for everyone who is thirsty to come and drink freely. In verse 2 of that scripture, the Holy Ghost counsels us not to spend our money on that which is not bread and our labor on that which does not satisfy.

John 6:27 says “Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed”.

This message is truly for God’s people who are really pursuing to know the truth and know God. There are God’s people who are spending their time in eating that which is not bread. They are feeding on teachings that are not consistent with the scriptures and the revelation of Jesus. Many of them are spending countless hours studying alright but are not studying the truth. I heard about a preacher who has written a whole book on head gear – the covering of the head by women. This is spending money on that which is not bread.

There is also another article someone wrote on the difference between the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit. This is also spending money on that which satisfies not. Now what is really bread that satisfies the hungry heart? The answer comes straight from the lips of the Master Himself:

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst (John 6:35).

So this bread is Jesus. The revelations that will truly satisfy and bring refreshing to the hearts of men, is that which is based on Jesus. Attending a marriage seminar that is not based on Jesus is spending money on that which satisfies not. Going to a church program and hearing teachings that are not consistent with Jesus and His redemptive program, is spending money on that which satisfies not. If you attend a meeting and all the preacher talks about is sin consciousness, you are spending your money on that which satisfies not.

There is this popular song that is even sang in churches, talking about “Raising me up”, that does not even have the name of Jesus or God mentioned in it. It is so popular that it has millions of views on YouTube. This is spending money on that which is not bread. What matters to God is Jesus. Anything that does not have the undertone of Jesus is waste of time. When we get to heaven, then you will know that all that matters to God is Jesus. Henceforth be sure that every preacher you listen to is worth your time. Listen to teachings that expound Jesus for He is the true bread that satisfies.
