Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Every believer ought to cultivate the habit of studying the scriptures for themselves; taking note of every detail. The verse 9 begins with ‘for’. Anytime you see the word ‘for’ in the word, find out why it is there. Whatever follows it explains what has been said already. ‘For’ has to do with reason or because. Hence the verse 9 beginning with ‘for’ explains the verse 8.
In essence it is telling you that the reason you should not allow anyone to spoil you through vain philosophy is because all the fullness dwells in Christ and no one else. This is so powerful. It implies that any teaching outside Christ is not the real deal. In Christ dwells all the fullness; your joy, peace and prosperity in Christ. Fullness has to do with completeness or maximum load or capacity. And now Christ lives in us which is our hope of glory (Colossians 1:27); this implies that in us is all the fullness of the Godhead. The completeness of God indwells us. Hallelujah!
This is too big for the human mind to comprehend. It will take the recreated human heart to receive this. All of God’s power, blessing, joy, abundance, prosperity, wisdom, knowledge, love etc indwells me. Glory to God! I don’t need to look for any power anywhere; I don’t need to look for any wisdom somewhere; all of God’s wisdom and power indwells me. I am full to the maximum. This is big! You ought to receive it even if it doesn’t make sense to you; receive it simply because the scripture says so. You do not lack anything; you are complete. No wonder in the verse 10 it says, “And you are complete in Him who is the head of all principality and power”. We are complete in Him.
Our success is complete in Christ Jesus. If “Jesus is the head of all principality and we are in Him, we are also the head of all principality and power. This puts satan and his cohorts at our feet; and this kind of thinking reduces satan to a manageable size. The fullness of God indwells us. Glory to God!
