Genesis 24:18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. 19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.

The story in the above scripture is between Abraham’s servant and Rebekah. The servant just asked for a drink for himself but Rebekah went the extra mile to water the camels as well. Watering ten camels with only one pitcher is no joke – it takes a lot of discipline and dedication and commitment to do that. This extra mile that Rebekah went was what qualified her for a husband like Isaac.

A lot of ladies would have just given the drink to the man alone; that’s normal. But Rebekah was a woman of excellence; she went a step further and got herself a husband. It is interesting to know that the difference between good and excellence is just something small – it is not that big. The difference between a first class grade and a second class upper grade could be just 0.01.

The extra things are what make all the difference and they are the things that will cause you to stand out of the majority. When given an assignment, try to go the extra mile in making it the best piece. Don’t adopt the mentality of a mediocre who is just satisfied with the status quo. Always seek to go the extra mile in whatever you do. Just adding one hour to your prayer life could improve your spiritual life dramatically. Going through that article to edit it well could make it a master piece.

Jesus did not just walk the earth to heal sick bodies and feed the hungry. Rather He went the extra mile by dying on the cross to bring salvation to the whole world. Refuse to do normal things; seek to do extraordinary things. Normal things won’t take you anywhere. There are too many of them in the system already. Pursue excellence. Learn to go the extra mile. Glory to God!
