YOU ARE AN AGENT OF CHANGE

Matthew 5:13‭-‬14 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

The believer in Christ is not an ordinary person. You are one God has ordained to be an agent of change. You are on earth to cause a change in the lives of men hence you are not an ordinary person.

God is concerned about nations as much as He is concerned about individuals and families and communities. We must begin to think the way God thinks. If all we are concerned about is our daily needs, then we are really myopic, and haven’t caught the kingdom agenda yet.

1 Timothy 2:1‭-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.‬‬‬ This scripture indicates God's desire for every nation: a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

It only took one declaration from a prophet of God and the heavens were shut over an entire nation. And it took the prayer of that one prophet and the drought was ended. How one man can cause a change in an entire nation.

God holds you responsible for the state of your family, community and nation. You may fight and debate it but that is the bitter truth. If there is darkness it simply means that the light is not shining. And who is the light of the world? It is you the believer in Christ. Again, if there is decadence, it implies that there is no salt in the system. And who is the salt of the earth? It is you the believer in Christ. Thus God holds the church responsible for the state of families, communities, and nations.

God commands us in His word to seek the peace and prosperity of our nations. Jeremiah 29:7 says, “And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.”

The New Century version puts it this way: Jeremiah 29:7 Also do good things for the city where I sent you as captives. Pray to the Lord for the city where you are living, because if good things happen in the city, good things will happen to you also.” NCV

This was Israel in the land of their captivity; and yet God commanded them to pray for their captors. How much more you a free citizen of a nation? God requires more prayer from you for your nation.

You are the deliverer for your family. Obadiah 1:21 says, “And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.”

God seeks to save and bless your family. You are to pray for the salvation of the members of your family. God seeks to bless your nation. You are to pray for the prosperity of your nation.
